Emotions debuted and peaked at number 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 129,000 copies, which surprised some following the huge success of Mariah Carey. It spent twenty-seven weeks in the top twenty and a total of fifty-five on the Billboard 200.

1. Emotions: [ Lyrics ]
-became Carey's fifth consecutive number 1 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, giving her the distinction of being the first and to date only act to have their first five singles make number 1 on the Hot 100.It reached number 1 in its seventh week and spent three weeks at the top, from October 6 to October 26, 1991.

2. And You Don't Remember [ Lyrics ]


3. Can't Let Go [ Lyrics ]
-reached number two and spent seventeen weeks in the top forty. The song topped was the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks, where it became Carey's fourth number one single.



4.  Make it Happen [ Lyrics ]
-peaked at number 5. It remained in the top forty for sixteen weeks and was one of the year's bigger hits, being ranked 42 on the 1992 Hot 100 year-end chart.

5. If it's Over [ Lyrics ]
-Executives at Columbia Records believed that the elements of big band, jazz and soul in "If It's Over" would conflict with Carey's image and jeopardize her chart record, and decided not to release the song as a single in the U.S.
